After reading
I, Jedi, my friend and I incorporated a new rule into our
universe based on the idea of 'Force talents'-- A person will have a
particular talent in one are of the Force and a deficiency in another to
compensate. we came up with this scale:
Avg D
Deficiency Power
Talent Power
0-2D
--
--
3-6D
0-1D
10-14D
7-10D
2-3D
15-17D
11-14D
4-5D
18-19D
15-18D
6D
20D
Description: A Force Power, upon selection by the player, may act as a specialty
skill. A character may only select 2 powers to specialize in as
talent powers and 2 as deficiency powers. 1st, the player must determine
the average D of his Force Skills. This is done by using the following
formula with t being total pips. (t/3)/3. Round out the remainder into pips
(1-3=+1, 4-6=+2, 7-10=1D) . Each power that is now a specialty may be
advanced normally but may not advance beyond the maximum D allowed for that
particular skill range. Some Force talents are inherited while some are
not.
Example: Phoenix Onagga, a Jedi trainee, has a Control of 4D, Sense of 5D+2, and
an Alter of 3D. His average is 4D+1. He specializes in Magnify Senses 11D+2 and
Bo-staff combat(homebrew)13D. His deficiency powers are Emptiness 0D+1 and
Hibernation Trance 0D+2.
Note: the talent powers modifiers may seem high but that was taken under careful
consideration recalling that Corran absorbed so many blaster bolts
in his encounter with that Hutt (forgot his name). Also, in the Hand of Thrawn
duology, Mara boasts about having a better danger sense than Luke. We
can't find any canoninical examples other than (SPOILER!!!) the TPM novel
explaining that Qui-Gon was the best swordsman in the galaxy.
